Cut energy costs with smart refrigeration controls
Refrigeration is one of the largest energy loads in commercial facilities. Cooling units run around the clock, and a significant share of that energy is wasted. CUES is a device that substantially reduces the energy consumption of refrigeration units.
The Problem With Refrigeration
A cooling unit has one role: maintain a consistent temperature inside a space, as set by a thermostat. The compressor cycles on and off to hold that temperature.
Sounds logical. But in practice, a lot of that energy cools nothing but dead space. What actually matters: the air temperature inside the unit, or the temperature of the food itself?
The two are quite different, and so is the energy required to maintain them. The thermodynamic properties of solid food differ substantially from air. The air in a unit may need cooling to hit the preset temperature when the food does not.
The result: a significant share of the energy your refrigeration uses is wasted keeping food cool that is already at temperature.
CUES Explored
To the right is a breakdown of the CUES components.
The CUES consists of a wax-based food simulant that imitates the thermal properties of the food inside your refrigeration unit, including thermal conductivity and thermal mass. With CUES installed, the unit controls to food temperature instead of air temperature.
CUES comes in two variations, so installation is quick whatever the size or type of your unit.

Control
Maintain the temperature of your food, not your fridge. CUES controls the only temperature in the unit that matters. Want to know more about CUES?
